Naming and Uploading Images
It is very important to correctly name images before uploading to the site.
Consistancy = Professionalism
Genus species location, (comma) date
Caladenia serotina Canning Rd, 5 Nov 2005.jpg
Caladenia serotina – This is the image Title
Canning Rd, 5 Nov 2005 – This is the Caption which appears under the thumbnail on its page.
Permalink: http://wanoscg.com/caladenia-serotina-canning-rd-5-nov-2005/
As soon as the image is uploaded the permanent url is created and cannot be changed.
Get the naming correct because search engines use that name to find images.
After uploading an image Edit it!
If more than 1 image with the same name use 2, or -2, or (2) at the end of the name.
Caladenia serotina Canning Rd, 5 Nov 2005
Caladenia serotina Canning Rd, 5 Nov 2005 (2) correct
Caladenia serotina Canning Rd, 5 Nov 2005 (9) incorrect – should be (3)
If the image is incorrectly named (9) you assume there is at least 8 other images.
Remember the Permalink has this number.
The correct spelling of the scientific name is vital. Currently there are over 1200 images in the Media Library. Using the right tools can make finding an image or group of images fast and easy.
After uploading, every orchid image is assigned a category which is usually the Genus.

Reason #27
Let’s say you want to create a Caladenia drummondii page from scratch.
It’s easy if the orchids were named correctly.
On the Add New Page click Add Media.
use the Filter by Media Category to find all Caladenia.
Then use the Search box to find all drummondii within Caladenia.
Select All then click Insert into Page.
Simple!
This is impossible to do if the images are not categorised, named and spelled correctly.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to name images correctly before uploading.
This is the template.
Genus species location, (comma) day Month year

Noel has spent a massive amount of time getting the naming consistent so let’s keep it that way.
You might not think it crucial now but wait until there is 5-10,000 images and someone new is working on the site.
Have fun.
